Susan Kincannon, Ed.D.

Susan Kincannon joined Waco Independent School District as its superintendent in September 2019. Dr. Kincannon has served in public education for 30 years as a teacher, principal, assistant/deputy superintendent, and superintendent. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, a master’s degree in educational administration from Tarleton State University, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Baylor University.

Under Dr. Kincannon’s leadership from 2011 to 2019, Belton ISD opened several new schools, including two middle schools, three elementary schools, a technical high school, and early childhood school, with two additional openings scheduled for the fall 0f 2020. Also, multiple construction projects resulted in a new multi-sport athletics complex, ag barn, and auto tech facility and a renovated district fine arts center, among others.

Dr. Kincannon was named a Distinguished Baylor Woman in February 2019, an award given to women who earned a degree from Baylor University and who have made a significant contribution to the Central Texas area. Some of the boards and organizations she has served include:  Belton Area Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, Temple Business League, Central Texas Housing Consortium, the Belton Christian Youth Center, the Equity Center and the Fast Growth Schools Coalition.

Kincannon grew up in the Central Texas area, graduating from Copperas Cove High School. She and her husband, Keith, have one daughter, Kale, who is a sophomore in the University Scholars program at Baylor University.
