UpSkill Waco getting lots of attention; evening training set

It has been a media buzz lately for UpSkill Waco. Mayor Dillon Meek, Hermann Pereira, and I had the opportunity to do interviews with KWTX 10, FOX 44, and KCEN 6 about our local workforce needs and upcoming UpSkill training opportunities.

I’m very thankful for our city leadership’s support of this initiative and all the work our partners are doing to “upskill” and “reskill” people for in-demand jobs.

We’re continuing to recruit and enroll for our Construction/Manufacturing Core and Hospitality Fundamentals courses. We moved the Construction Core course to Aug. 9 (from July 12), but I think this will work better since we’re now offering it as an evening (5:30-8:30 p.m.) training.

So far, we’ve had great interest in this evening course and look to do more throughout the rest of the year. We’re looking forward to getting out in the community more this month and meeting with more potential applicants and partners.

Anyone interested in applying or learning more about UpSkill Waco training can visit our website at www.upskill-waco.org. We now have an option for people to subscribe to our new monthly training updates on our website. Also, like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram! Look up UpSkill Waco to find us.
