UpSkill helping connect Wacoans with education, training, placement

By Heaven Lee

It can be hard to know where to start when looking for training that fits your needs. UpSkill Waco can help connect you with affordable and accessible education, job training, and job placement.

We are currently offering our courses, provided by McLennan Community College and Texas State Technical College, in the evenings, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at local community centers, thanks to the City of Waco. Scholarships are available.

We are excited to announce our pilot “Medical Office Certification” course, which will begin on Dec. 6. The course will cover customer service, medical terminology, business writing and grammar, appointment scheduling, and computer skills. Our partner, Heart of Texas Goodwill, will assist participants with resumes and interview skills. There will be an employment opportunity with Waco Family Medicine following completion of the course.

Recently, the City of Waco has maintained a hotel occupancy rate higher than the state’s rate. Plus, there are four new hotels coming to the Waco area. These new hotels will be looking for hospitality staff. We are offering a hospitality and tourism course for participants to become trained and knowledgeable to occupy these positions. The course start date is to be determined, but it is a great opportunity to train for an entry-level position. Hospitality is an ever-growing sector where individuals can blossom, be themselves, and advance in their careers.

As always, we are actively recruiting, accepting applications, and enrolling for all courses. Anyone interested in applying or learning more about UpSkill Waco training can visit our website, like us on Facebook, and follow us on Instagram.
