Prosper Waco is excited to launch a new grant opportunity designed to strengthen the infrastructure of food pantries and food distribution programs in our community. Through the Hunger Free Community Coalition, we are offering small grants of up to $1,500 to local organizations serving McLennan County that are committed to reducing food insecurity.
While many community efforts focus on providing food directly to families, this grant opportunity is focused on building and enhancing the systems that make those efforts possible. Funding can be used for key infrastructure improvements and necessary supplies, including:

Refrigeration and storage equipment
Shelving and signage
Software for tracking inventory
Packaging materials and carts for food handling
Safety and traffic materials for distribution
Materials to support gardens or growing efforts
These funds are not intended for food purchases, but rather to help organizations improve the capacity, efficiency, and sustainability of their food-related programs
Who Should Apply?
Nonprofit organizations, churches, neighborhood associations, civic clubs, and educational institutions based in McLennan County are all eligible to apply. Applicants must either be a member of the Central Texas Food Bank network or provide a letter of support from either Shepherd’s Heart or Family of Faith Worship Center.
Applications will be evaluated based on clarity and feasibility, the demonstrated community need, and the potential impact of the project.
How to Apply
Organizations must complete and apply by May 15, 2025. Applications should be emailed to admin@prosperwaco.org and include basic organizational details, a description of the proposed project, a budget, and, if applicable, proof of nonprofit status or letters of support.
To ensure accountability and track the impact of these funds, grantees will be asked to submit a short narrative and receipts within six months of receiving funding.
We encourage our partners and community members to help spread the word to organizations that are working every day to make sure no one in our community goes without access to food. This grant is one more way we can strengthen our local response to food insecurity and support those on the front lines of this important work.
