JOB OPENING: Communication Specialist


Job Description

Primary Duties

The Communication Specialist will be responsible for all external communications regarding Prosper Waco and its activities, including:

  • Promoting awareness in the community of Prosper Waco and its mission
  • Maintaining relationships with media and notifying media of Prosper Waco activities/events
  • Maintain various social media platforms that effectively communicates the mission of Prosper Waco
  • Advertising Prosper Waco events/activities to the community and post-event communication
  • Developing and maintaining a consistent design for Prosper Waco’s communications (including 
letterhead, business cards, report templates, etc.)
  • Developing and maintaining an attractive, informative, and interactive website
  • Planning and coordinating annual Prosper Waco Summit or similar event to engage a broad 
cross-section of the community in the initiative and communicate initiative successes
  • Producing annual initiative report with support of Director of Data and assisting in production 
of community scorecard and other data reports to ensure that data is presented in a format that 
community members can easily understand
  • Communication and design activities in support of initiative strategies implemented alongside 
partner organizations
  • Planning and coordination of Prosper Waco’s monthly city channel TV show
  • Representing Prosper Waco at community events and Prosper Waco meetings
  • Communicating with organizations and individuals affiliated with Prosper Waco

Other Duties

Additional duties this position may be required to fulfill include:

  • Preparing for and participating in Prosper Waco board meetings
  • Preparing for and participating in other Prosper Waco meetings (e.g., steering committee 
meetings, coalition meetings, etc.)
  • Various activities related to the proper functioning of the Proper Waco office, including 
record keeping, bookkeeping, supply orders, answering phones, etc.
  • Support for research and grant-writing activities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Other information

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), exempt, benefits-eligible position
  • Position reports directly to Director of Collaboration & Operations
  • Position includes opportunities for professional development

Bachelor’s Degree required.
