Join a working group to be part of the Waco education conversation

Prosper Waco has a great way for you to be part of advancing education in our city. Prosper Waco working groups focus on two broad initiatives:

  1. Increasing student success, and
  2. Aligning education and workforce goals in ways that strengthen the emerging workforce. 

Working groups present an opportunity for collaboration and collective impact in various specific areas of the education sector. There are seven working groups meeting monthly or bimonthly that are open to any community member interested in improving education in Greater Waco.

Working group meetings in October are listed below along with links to register for their corresponding Zoom meetings. 

Early Childhood Committee

The Early Childhood Committee exists to analyze the early childhood landscape and develop collaborative efforts to support high-quality early childhood services and supports. It fosters student success through addressing childhood environments, opportunities, family engagement, and resources that support whole child development.

Alliance for Safe Children 

The Alliance for Safe Children exists to coordinate efforts, identify gaps in services, and raise awareness about the impact of child abuse/neglect in McLennan County. These efforts are focused on prevention and on supporting agencies working with children and their families in order to decrease the prevalence of child abuse/neglect in our community.

Informal Learning Group 

The Informal Learning Group promotes and supports coalition building among Waco area community-based educational opportunities. We will serve as a community mapping tool and database, assisting Prosper Waco in becoming a platform of opportunities in support of student success.

School-Focused Wrap Around Services 

The School-Focused Wrap Around Services group exists to provide children and families additional support services needed for student success. It fosters student success by bridging the gap between students’ physical, social, and behavioral well-being and their academic success. It works toward, creating a system with a broad approach to student support.

Mentor Waco Coalition

The Mentor Waco Coalition exists to develop positive relationships with students and adults to impact student success. It fosters student success through academics, self-advocacy, and promotion of social and professional leadership skills.

McLennan County College Access Network 

McLennan County C.A.N. exists to increase access to certificates and degree programs for students in McLennan County. It provides support through completion of those programs and focuses on access to financial resources and college information for all students in McLennan County.

Education, Workforce, and Talent Alliance 

Education is shaping students for productive adult living, and today’s students become tomorrow’s workforce. Prosper Waco is dedicated to aligning education and workforce goals in ways that value individuals as students who will become our emerging workforce. Community leaders with insight into how education connects with our future workforce make up this working group.
